Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) coverage will depend upon individual insurance plans. Many plans now cover unlimited MNT visits with a Registered Dietitian as part of preventive care while other plans cover a certain number of hours per year. We are happy to help you identify your coverage for MNT.

Medicare Coverage

Medicare currently provides coverage for Medical Nutrition Therapy with a Registered Dietitian for the following diagnoses:

• Diabetes (Type 1, Type 2 or Gestational)
• Chronic Kidney Disease (Stage III or IV)
• Renal Transplant (up to 3 years after transplant)

Medicare also currently covers an annual wellness visit and counseling for obesity and lipid disorders (such as high cholesterol or triglycerides) for patients whom have been covered by Medicare for at least one year. These services must be provided through the primary care physician (PCP) office. We provide RDs to conduct these important health counseling appointments on-site at the primary care office and at the convenience of the patient and clinic.
Medicare Advantage plans may cover additional services, depending on the plan.
